SAP HANA PAL: Predictive Analysis Library

What is PAL in SAP HANA? – SAP HANA Predictive Analysis Library

Having previously discussed SAP HANA in this post, focusing on the data analytics side, we come across the PAL library (Predictive Analysis). This library is native to SAP HANA and is used for predictive analysis.

TYPES OF ALGORITHMS

Thanks to this library, you can apply techniques as diverse and powerful as clustering algorithms, classification algorithms, regression algorithms, time series algorithms, and statistical algorithms, among others.

APPLICATION TO THE SUPPLY CHAIN

Today, all these advanced analytics algorithms are useful in many everyday fields. For example, statistical algorithms such as the T-Test are used to calculate the effectiveness of a treatment against a certain disease. In this way, the effectiveness of a treatment can be tested at a theoretical level before its use becomes widespread. If we focus on the supply chain, algorithms such as ARIMA can be applied to optimize the routes taken by the vehicles in a truck fleet, simply by being able to predict the consumption of all the company’s customers. If the K-Means algorithm is applied in an industrial setting, it is possible to detect, based on the data collected by the production line sensors, parts that have developed a defect along the production line and remove them before processing is complete, thereby saving time and costs in the manufacturing of the part.

In addition, since these algorithms are implemented within the SAP HANA environment, data processing time is 3,600 times faster than with any other type of analytics technology. This last point offers the added benefit of being able to analyze data in near real time, allowing the strategy to be adjusted within minutes.

Thanks to this type of technology, which speeds up data processing and also equips the environment with advanced data analysis libraries, you can extract information from your available data and turn it into knowledge, generating greater profitability for your business model. Today more than ever, our companies’ data is the oil of the future.

At LISDATA, we have spent several months tracking the evolution of these technologies, as we are fully committed to the belief that data analysis is heading in the direction SAP HANA is charting. Do you need help implementing these solutions in your business unit? Contact us
