What does RPA mean?
Robotic process automation (RPA) is a technology used to automate tasks. It makes it possible to develop, implement and manage software robots (bots) that emulate human actions and interact with digital systems and software.
In other words, these bots can learn, imitate and then execute business processes based on rules set in advance.
The use of RPA technology must form part of an overall business strategy. That strategy has to identify correctly the activities where process automation can add value, for example by preventing manual errors, and those where the human contribution remains essential.
The benefits of RPA
Workplace satisfaction rarely comes from unrewarding repetitive tasks. It comes from roles that offer people a chance to develop. This is where RPA systems add value: they can carry out repetitive, monotonous tasks on their own and automatically.
These are some of the advantages of automated data capture:
- Greater agility: cut the time needed for tasks that can be automated, from minutes or even hours down to seconds.
- Greater productivity: these systems can work 24/7 without needing a break.
- Greater efficiency: because the work is automated, the proportion of errors decreases exponentially.
- Rapid amortisation: once this implementation is in place, the return is almost immediate.
