Ministry of Industry supports LISDATA R project to design an advanced data analytics tool
The company plans to invest more than €190,000 in this industrial development, which it has submitted to the INNOVA 2021 grant program
The Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Innovation, Transport and Trade of the Government of Cantabria has awarded a grant of €58,689 to LISDATA, a Cantabrian consulting firm specializing in artificial intelligence and advanced data analytics, for the execution of the R project ‘Industrial Smart Data Pool,’ in which it plans to invest more than €190,000.
The project, with an execution deadline of August 2023, proposes the development of a tool for collecting data from different environments in an anonymized manner, supported by Natural Language Processing (NLP) technologies within a data lake—a centralized repository for all types of structured and unstructured data at any scale.
Using this data and identified patterns, high-value indicators will be generated to serve as raw material for developing advanced analytics based on data mining, machine learning, and neural network techniques.
These analyses will make it possible to detect trends and correlations between data, perform classification and segmentation, and predict and infer time series or data such as raw material costs—a key factor in many production processes.
The Minister of Industry and Innovation, Javier López Marcano, states that the tool proposed by LISDATA will help companies improve their productivity and resilience levels, which in turn will enhance the production system and its surrounding environment.
He also highlighted that, to carry out this project, the young Cantabrian consulting firm has put together a multidisciplinary team made up of industrial engineers, mathematicians, and software developers, and will also count on the University of Cantabria, which will bring a differentiating element and a technological leap to the proposal.
The Minister emphasized the importance of this type of collaboration and synergy between players in the regional innovation ecosystem in helping Cantabria become a digital region among the top tier of European regions in the coming years.
LISDATA has submitted the ‘Industrial Smart Data Pool’ project to the INNOVA 2021 competitive grant program run by the Directorate General for Innovation, Technological Development, and Industrial Entrepreneurship.
As part of this program, the department led by Javier López Marcano has awarded grants totaling four million euros to 70 R projects submitted by companies in the Autonomous Community, which will mobilize a total induced investment of 18 million euros.
The Minister points out that this grant program aims to incentivize innovation within the business community by supporting industrial research, experimental development, and feasibility study projects.
The program pursues a threefold objective: to consolidate regional innovation projects; to support Cantabrian industry and businesses in developing new, innovative products, processes, and services that offer innovative paths out of the crisis; and to assess new activities and initiatives suited to the new production and technological landscape of the post-COVID-19 socioeconomic order.
About LISDATA
Cantabrian entrepreneur Manuel Coterillo and Asier Barredo, from the Basque Country, founded LISDATA in 2013 to provide cutting-edge technological support to businesses and improve their business processes. The company, which was later joined by partner Alberto Monge, began its journey supporting the logistics sector and later evolved to provide services to the supply chain.
The years 2015 and 2016 marked the beginning of growth for this company, which currently has nearly 50 employees and plans to create 30 new jobs this year at its new facilities in Santa Cruz de Bezana, inaugurated last November. The company has offices in Madrid, Barcelona, Vitoria, and Hamburg (Germany).
Its business niche focuses on applying Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Big Data, and Business Intelligence to improve its clients’ levels of efficiency, quality, profitability, and sustainability. It also advises and supports companies throughout their digital transformation processes and the implementation of Industry 4.0.
Given the innovative nature of these technologies, David López, who is leading the project supported by the INNOVA 2021 program, joined the company that same year as Head of R and leader of the team dedicated to research and innovation at LISDATA.
