KNIME: A MINER FOR THE DATA MOUNTAIN
KNIME FOR EMPOWERING THE BUSINESS USER.

We always say that our goal is to empower clients (especially business clients, not technical ones) and create the scenario, control, and knowledge necessary so that, once the project is developed, they have the autonomy to use the solutions provided, conduct research, and rely on us for support to develop new lines of analysis and knowledge.
Perhaps an important but less discussed aspect of KNIME is its ease of database integration and SQL querying. Until now, many business users depended on someone external (someone from IT) to develop new queries in the databases, relying on the “IT guy” to explore data sources.
HOW TO USE KNIME TO EXPLORE DATABASES?
There are applications that allow for the development of SQL queries in a friendlier and simpler environment. KNIME puts an end to all that in one fell swoop..
In KNIME, for example, a join query is as simple as dragging a Joiner Node, connecting the inputs, and exploring the type of join we want (in an Inner, Left Outer, Right Outer, or Full Outer drop-down tab). As always, we can learn more about the node on the right side (Node Description). To choose the columns we are interested in integrating into the query, it is as simple as selecting them in the Include section.

This is a simple example of how we can perform any query, which is especially useful in databases. Furthermore, KNIME executes within the database, so if we perform a group by or join operation (as in the example), KNIME executes the query in the database, obtaining only the result from it, and thereby maximizing memory resources.
KNIME AS YOUR PRIMARY MINER
It is no secret that we consider KNIME a key tool in our analytical processes. It has proven to be a crucial aid in carrying out the mining process and what has been called Business Discovery, especially for the business user, who has neither the time nor the appropriate knowledge to develop complex queries in the company’s vast databases. They need ease, speed, and agility, and KNIME offers all of that. Its ease of export to other more visual platforms (such as Qlik or Tableau) also allows us to improve our communication and understanding of information and achieve an effective transfer of knowledge.
